Pod component redesign

I led development on a complete redesign of one of the components in the pod assembly. This redesign demonstrated both a 62% reduction in piece price as well as a significant improvement in the performance of the overall pod design. I managed this project from initial prototype phase through the manufacture of a developmental production tool. This process included the following:

• Testing and iteration of initial prototypes via in-house prototyping capabilities as well as outsourced rapid prototyping services

• Coordinating a contract manufacturer to develop a pilot mold, and continued interfacing to develop additional iterations based on research and testing on parts from this tool

• Creation of 3D model and 2D drawing using DFM and GD&T principles

• Interfacing with contract manufacturers to determine optimal manufacturing process for full production tool

• Initiating development tool to verify manufacturability of final design
